A female cultist, Mariam Abiola, who was arrested by policemen attached to the Lagos State Police Command, has said she tried to make money from sex, but men slept with her and refused to pay. The 20-year-old self-confessed member of the dreaded Eiye confraternity had told newsmen after her arrested that she killed no fewer than four people. However, Abiola, in a new chat with newsmen, said she ran away from her home in Abeokuta because of poverty. She added that she tried to make more from prostituting her self but because of her small stature, men will sleep with her and tell her stories afterwards. She also disclosed that apart from sleeping with men for money, she resorted to hawking to survive. She said, “After my secondary school in Abeokuta, I started hawking sachet water and other things with my mother. She told me to quickly get married and the man who wanted to marry me is an old man. My girlfriend who is based in Lagos came back to Abeokuta to see her parents.

Nigerian Customs Services has threatened to sack overweight officials. Comptroller-General, Colonel Hameed Ali (retd) gave the warning during the Nigerian Customs Command and Staff College graduation ceremony for its junior course in Abuja. He advised some overweight officers of the service to get back in shape or risk losing their jobs. Ali said: "We are going to put in place a weight level. If you go beyond a certain weight level, you will be put on probation. "If you cannot cope, we will probably get you out. Obesity should not be part of us; that is why we are called paramilitary." The customs boss also urged officers who are yet to key into the reformation going on in the service to do so immediately. "Today, we have been able to place customs on a high pedestal. People respect customs, not because of anything, but because we are beginning to change the way we do business. "We are not asking for bribe anymore, although it's still going on

PLATEAU STATE GOVERNMENT BANS PUBLIC PROCESSIONS

BAN ON PUBLIC PROCESSIONS As part of measures to further protect  lives and properties of citizens, the  Plateau State Government hereby bans public processions in all parts of the state. Members of the public are therefore advised to adhere strictly to the ban. This is to prevent miscreants and unpatriotic elements from hijacking any protest to further inflict pain and hardship on innocent citizens. The ban  will enable Government take stock of the security situation in the state. Government appreciates the democratic right of citizens to protest but it also has a duty to ensure nothing negatively affect them.
