GENTLEMAN'S CODE 102

David King

Being a gentleman is difficult, if we really want to do the right thing. But there's no other way to go than doing the right thing.
This is the second in the series of Gentlemen's Code.
1. Embrace colognes. The way a man smells tells a lot about his personality. Your personality is your subtle pride. And make sure your cologne is not too loud. Men don't wear loud scents.
2. When climbing a staircase, take the steps one at a time. Never fall for the temptation of jumping double time. This only means that you should arrive your venues on time.
3. When driving in traffic, do not engage in road rage. Insulting other drivers only makes you appear abnormal and mentally unstable.
4. Never spit in public. Be it through the car window or into the gutter, spitting in public is unethical. If you must spit, do it privately and neatly. A serviette or handkerchief will make it less messy.
5. If you have cattarh or runny nose, go everywhere with a handkerchief. Never use your bare hands to blow your nose. It can get messy and embarrassing.
6. If you have to fart (mess) in public, excuse yourself quickly and get into the gents or an open space. Trying to fart in public by doing it quietly might backfire. It may inadvertently come out with a big bang and a skunky stench. Nothing can be more embarrassing.

7. Comb your hair and groom your facial hair. A man's hair says a lot about him. Whether you choose to carry dreadlocks or braids or go bald, always keep it well groomed. And the beard gang should take extra care of the extra luggage.
8. Invest in good shoes. Shoes say a lot about a man's personality. It's no secret that people quickly cast glances at men's shoes when they meet for the first time. Keep your shoes clean and polished. Personality assessors are everywhere.
9. When you arrive late for any event, get in quietly. And if getting in quietly is not possible, issue an apology but don't give any excuses. Excuses only make it seem like you are taking everyone for granted.
10. Never gossip. Men are not expected to gossip. If there are things to be said about a person which might be hurtful, forget it. Never confide a gossip in anyone, it will eventually get out and you'll lose credibility.
